The Elms of Charleston
The Elms of Charleston is located off Highway 78 in N Charleston. It is next to Wannamaker Park and a few very short minutes to Charleston Southern University, Trident Hospital and I-26. It is an age 55 and over community and the homes are OWNED individually by the residents. The Elms is a completed community, with building having been completed between the late 1980s and 2016. All homes have the master bedroom on the first floor and many are located on cul de sac streets, insuring low traffic. Homes available now are purchased through local Realtors as re-sales.
When I drove through The Elms today, I noticed several people taking a leisurely stroll or walking their dogs (on a leash, of course) The Elms prides itself on providing an active and low maintenance lifestyle to it's residents.
Located in the Northern part of Charleston County, the community is surrounded by a wide variety of dining, shopping and entertainment. With I-26 close by, it is a short drive to the culture of the City of Charleston and the enjoyment of the beaches on The Isle of Palms, Sullivans Island, Folly Beach, Kiawah and Seabrook Island. Golfers will be very happy here with numerous championship courses in the area. Wannamaker Park is next door and the Francis Marion National Forest is nearby.
AMENITIES at The Elms of Charleston
The Private Clubhouse is the main place to gather for activity. In the Clubhouse, homeowners can enjoy the beautifully decorated dining room or take a dip in the pool. When I was there today, around 3 pm, a large group of ladies were gathered playing a card game. The pool was filled with a two spirited teams of residents who were enjoying a game of volley ball. There is a fitness room where you can work out without going to the gym. There is an in-house lending library, Tennis court, Shuffleboard Court, Pickle ball and Bocce Ball courts............The game room offers billiards, table tennis and a great place to play a game of cards. The Grand Ballroom, along with the catering kitchen, can be rented by homeowners for parties and celebrations. Homeowners are offered the chance to go on field trips in the 14 passenger van. The Elms has a full time Activity Director on the grounds on weekdays. You many enjoy the pond and the walking trails any time you like and feel safer because it is a gated community. If there is not enough going on at the Clubhouse, you are only a couple of miles from the new Senior Center on Antler Drive, which you can join for only $100 per year.
The Homeowners Association
As of today, September 25, 2018, the HOA dues are $210 on the homes, other than the condiminiums in the Deer Ridge Section. The HOA dues cover: a full time resident services director who plans the weekly clubs and activities open to all residents, Maintenance of lawns and common grounds, Exterior wood trim being painted every 5 years on your home, Annual pressure washing of your home and of course the Amenities at the clubhouse.
